The Senior Seminar class went to MInneapolis to view new paintings by Gustavus Alum, Song Thao. His MFA Thesis exhibition was on view at the Soap Factory, located on the Northeast Side of downtown. Thao talked with students about his personal experiences after Gustavus and what it was like for him to finish his MFA studies at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Our next stop was to visit Gustavus professor, Betsy Beyer’s studio on the east side of the city. Here we saw where she creates beautiful, playful and energetic paintings  about subjects such as underwater swimming. We also got the facts on finding and maintaining a artist’s studio space. Our final stop was the Walker Art Center for an examination and discussion on many original art works studied in Professor Lowe’s, Contemporary Art Class.
